A Sad Ending To A Funny Story...
You might remember this story I posted here on November 13th, 2007, during NaBloPoMo, or National Blog Posting Month. This is when you are supposed to blog once each day for an entire month. We have left that behind, to focus on our latest project, Blog 365, which is blogging once each day for a year! So far, so good.
So here is the story I posted last year. Read through the article, to find out what has happened since then...Sad...
I guess not stopping is a problem in the Village of Oak Lawn, Illinois. So, town leaders came up with a funny way to get across a serious message.
I found this while surfing some time back, and thought it was funny. All credits to cbs2chicago.com

For more info, and to see more actual stop signs, or to suggest your own, surf on over to the Village of Oak Lawn, Illinois.
So, as it turns out, the fun (with a serious message) is over in the Village Of Oak Lawn, Illinois...
Town ends comical 'Stop' signs like 'Stop! In the Name of Love'
OAK LAWN, Ill. — Oak Lawn has removed comical remarks in octagonal shapes it placed under stop signs in an effort to get motorists to obey the law.
Mayor Dave Heilmann says the Illinois Department of Transporation determined the signs violated the federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. He says had Oak Lawn not removed the signs, the city could have lost federally funded projects.
The public safety campaign to cut down on speeding through stop signs began in September. Slogans such as "and smell the roses" and "means that you aren't moving" were placed near 50 stop signs.
At the time, Heilmann said he thought the remarks would get motorists to pause, if for nothing else, to read the phrases.
Heilmann says IDOT's objection to the signs meant he had to junk $1,700 worth of signs.
Sometimes I hate people...
