I Am A Part Of History...

...Perhaps a small part, one so small it only registered with one person: Me.

Me. Little ol' me. I have taken part in a political process that will be part of our political future in this country, which will be tied to this country's political history. I voted today. Not a big deal, if you consider that I vote each and every year. It is my right and it is my honor, and it is my duty.

But I am not the only one in this historic position. Megan voted too, and for that, our small parts become that much bigger. I for one am thrilled to have taken part in this step, that will ultimately lead us to voting for a new President. Without getting political, I won't reveal who we voted for (though Megan, as a frequent contributor to this 'Blog, is free to do that) because it's not so important as who we voted for, as it is that we voted at all. Too many people in this country believe their votes don't count, but I don't believe that. Too many people are too busy to vote. We have two kids and four jobs between us, but somehow, Megan and I managed to vote. We had to. To miss this would have been depressing.

Thanks to my second job, I was able to get up close with Senator Obama tonight. He was leaving his hotel, headed over to meet his supporters. My photographer Paul shouted a question, the Senator answered, all the while shaking hands and acknowledging his supporters. It was a great moment, one I wish I had been able to record. (I am working on that with Paul. More on that in the future.)

Anyway, primary day has come and gone here in the Old North State. The timing couldn't be better. I'm tired of this stuff. Let us rest through the summer, and get ready for the big ramp up, around November.

Until then, see you tomorrow.
