Clobb, Clobb, Clobb...

If you have been reading the blog on a daily basis (as I know you have) then you know that Jonah has about perfected the art of stalling at bedtime. He needs to go potty...He needs water...He bumped his head...The fan is turning around...He needs Chap Stick...Is night time over yet? During the stall sessions, I try to be as patient as I can, but even the most loving parents need some time away from their kids. Thanks goodness for bedtime.

So one recent stalling tactic went something like this...

SOUND OF DOOR UNLOCKING AND CREEKING OPEN...

Jonah: "Daddy?"

Me: "Go to sleep, Jonah.

Jonah: But, Daddy..."

Me: "Yes, Jonah."

Jonah: "I hear clobb."

Me: "You hear what?"

Jonah: "The clobb."

Me: "What is that?"

Jonah: "I can hear it in my ears."

So at this point, I remembered that Jonah had a runny nose, and was a bit congested, and that's when I figured it out...

Me: "Jonah, that's your heartbeat. Go to sleep, son."

Jonah smiled real wide, and quietly went back into his room and went to sleep.
