Kites 1, Us 0...
During a recent Christmas, Megan's stepmom Deb, and her Dad Larry got us a kite.
Not any regular old kite, mind you, because gifts from Deb and Larry do not fall under the category of "regular and old", I am here to tell you!
It sat for the longest time in our garage, begging to be flown. But one thing or another got in the way, and we never got the chance to fly it.
Until today.

There were several problems. First, neither Megan nor I had flown a kite for many, many years. However, the memory of our failures at kite flying were fresh. We both had no knowledge of how this thing should work, and it showed. The other problem was that the directions on this kite were weak, to say the least. We placed knots in places it said we should, but then ended up moving the knots around, still to no avail. All we accomplished was boring our two boys, and making Megan sick. However, Zoe had fun running around so, at least one of us had fun.
There were a few positives. First, there were no trees around to snag our kite. We went out into a large, open field.

The other positive was that it was windy. Nice and windy for a kite to take its maiden flight. But not today. Today the kite won.
Or did it lose? It's difficult to know, really. But I do know this. Today, the kite won the battle, but we will win the war.
And next time we will take pictures.
See you on the battlefield, kite!
And see you tomorrow!
